Behind the Scenes with Guy @ Regis & Kelly

I’m bringing you Behind the Purple Door to share an exciting day….we booked Guy Fieri to co-host Regis & Kelly, shoot with Extra and meet with 60 editors from Wenner Media (US Weekly, Men’s Journal and Rolling Stone).
A few months ago when we found out that we had a half a day in NYC to book media for Guy, our first call was to Regis & Kelly – that turned into a booking…not just for a segment but to co-host with Kelly. Seriously…words can’t describe how exciting it was to deliver that news to Guy! We only had a few hours – to make the most of his time we booked a behind the scenes shoot with Extra and arranged a lunch with Wenner Media.
So what does a snapshot of this day look like?
6:00AM: Left NJ bright and early so I could read all the papers and be ready if Guy needed ideas for the first part of the show. There were a few great articles – USA Today had one called “Going to Pot Country” about legalizing marijuana tasting rooms Southern Cali. While that would be a fun topic, prob not something ABC/Disney would go for.
8:00-9:00AM: Guy arrived, did a run through with each producer about the guests (Emma Roberts & Mary Louise Parker), rehearsal, makeup, wardrobe and off he went. He and Kelly had great chemistry, they were funny and engaging –Guy did a fantastic job and dare I say…even stole the spotlight during a few segments…he didn’t miss a beat.

Guy was outside doing a cooking segment so we watched on the monitors
9:15AM: We invited EXTRA along for the morning to shoot behind the scenes. We also shot on the street in front of ABC - here’s when Guy talks about rumors:

12:00-2:30PM: We arrived at Wenner Media for an incredible event. We ate with the editors then Guy answered questions. Here are some pics and a vid of Guy talking about the first day he arrived on the DDD set:

Turned out to be an amazing day that kicked off an incredible Food & Wine Festival Weekend…more about that next time!
