The Making of a NYT Best-Seller: Launching Guy Fieri's Cookbook
posted Monday, May 16, 2011 by Rebecca Brooks
Creating a NYT best seller takes thoughtful strategy, many months of hard work and an incredible team. This month we launched Guy Fieri’s first cookbook, Guy Fieri Food http://www.guyfieri.com/ and a few days later it made the NYT best seller list!
I can’t reveal details about the many months of planning, pitching and tireless executing, but over the next few days I will take you Behind the Purple Door for a peek at Guy’s blogger party and appearances on Today Show, The View, Nate Berkus, Rachael Ray and more.
We kicked it off in the Food Network kitchen – a small group of NYC bloggers and website editors were invited to meet Guy and sample his food. We even had another client, Catherine from Weelicious.com in town who popped by to say hello. Check out a few blogs that were posted as a result, along with a few photos.

Guy kicked off his media tour with an appearance on The Today Show. In case you missed it, you can learn how to make his Grilled Peppercorn Tri-tip Steak and Sangria Glazed Shrimp - http://tinyurl.com/65rmw64. We were standing in the studio and snapped a few pics:

We shot with Extra in NYC’s Times Square and the crowds went wild! Ice-T was there promoting his book – I can’t think of two more distinct voices on television! Here’s a peek at all of G’s Extra appearances: http://tinyurl.com/6bgy92p
Tomorrow I will take you behind the scenes to Rachael Ray, Nate Berkus and Z-100.
