5 Things We Need From Our Clients to Be Successful and Have a Long Lasting Relationship

I read a blog on PRdaily.com about what PR firms need from their clients and was so inspired, I'm sharing it with you with my own spin. We could have the most amazingly talented clients, but if they aren't active in the PR process, success will be challenging.

Here's what we need:

1. Your Time: My favorite saying at the office is "we are not mind-readers."  It's key for you to tell us what's happening with your business.  If you want results, you have to be available for approvals, press requests and interviews.

2. Your Expertise & Opinions: Our job is to take your expertise and knowledge and turn it into a newsworthy story that will capture the attention of the media.  Working together has to be a two way street where you are available to brainstorm with us, offer feedback, and provide ideas.

3. Your Trust & Honesty: Ideally, you can consider us like Rabbi's and Priest's. We need to know the truth about your expertise and brand - give us the whole story.  Again, we are not mind-readers - we need to know when you are happy and when you are not.

4. Your Belief: We speak with journalists on a daily basis and know what they want and don't want.  We want what's best for you.  If we advise you that a change in strategy is necessary, listen to our reasons and trust what we have to say.

5. Your Patience:  While I wish it did, PR does not happen overnight and if someone tells you it does...run for the hills.  It takes time and consistent effort to get results and build a strong reputation for a person, service or brand.

Good things come to those who wait.  Give us these 5 things and you will be thrilled with the results.
