Lucky Cricket

Andrew Zimmern, four-time James Beard Award winner, has partnered with Michael McDermott, President and CEO of McDermott Restaurants to launch Lucky Cricket, a contemporary Chinese restaurant in the former Bonefish space (1607 West End Blvd, St Louis Park, MN 55416) in November 2018. McDermott has created and operated concepts including Kona Grill and Rojo Mexican Grill. Zimmern is the owner of Passport Hospitality that operates the AZ Canteen brand and other enterprises.

Lucky Cricket features a menu that reflects Zimmern’s extensive travels throughout China, offering an adventurous sampling of dishes inspired by provinces with which Americans may be less familiar. Cantonese, Fujianese, Hunan, Shandong, Sichuan and other regional foods will provide vision and creativity, inspiring a menu composed of small plates and sharable dishes. Lucky Cricket expanded on familiar, recognizable favorites such as house-made Dim Sum, Chinese BBQ and hand-pulled noodles featuring bold Chinese ingredients with big flavors. Lucky Cricket’s space is anchored by a tiki bar and lounge. Inspired by Zimmern’s family connections to Vic Bergeron and his memories of years spent at “Trader Vics”, the Lucky Cricket tiki bar’s beverage program is being designed by Dean Hurst, an award-winning mixologist known for his work as Spirits Coordinator for the annual Hukilau Tiki Convention and consulting with restaurants such as Bern’s Steakhouse and The Bedford. The bar will offer Tiki drinks and other Asian-inspired cocktails as well as an extensive collection of rums from around the world. Shea Design (Spoon & Stable, Octo Fishbar) will create a space that blends the energy of Tiki-inspired elements and Asian street-food culture, recalling Zimmern’s travels through China.
